If we trade a D for a F we'll end up exposing one of Smith or Pageau, which they would take. Many more D options than F. |

That's assuming Ryan doesn't get protected, which we are unsure of at this point.

Correct but I think, in the case of this situation, it may be smart to leave him unprotected and if necessary sacrifice a pick or asset to vegas to have them select someone like wideman or dzingle. |

Dorion specifically mentioned 7-3-1 in yesterday's presser and I'm really hoping it was a bluff. We just don't have enough at Forward for us to use that scheme IMO and they should be doing 4-4-1. That was they can protect EK65, Phaneuf, Methot and one of Ceci or Claesson at D and Turris, Stone, Hoffman and one of Pageau, Smith etc on F.
LV is not going to take Ryan (and if they did it wouldn't be a bad thing). We can live without any of the other Fs. Similarly, I think we can survive losing Wideman or Boro or whichever D they leave exposed. This seems so clear to me. |

I don't understand why you don't believe we have enough at forward to warrant 7-3-1.
Turris
Hoffman
Stone
??? who would be your fourth?
even with 7 you still leave some exposed that are absolute quality.
turris
hoffman
stone
ryan
pageau
smith
brassard

My fourth would probably be Pageau. Ryan and Brossard are $7 and $5 mill respectively and both could be replaced for less. I think it would be awesome if they took either. Not that I don't like them both, but it's too much money for not enough return IMO. It would be a shame to lose Mac or Smith or Dzingel, but we could survive it. Our D core is way more important and valuable. |

Think you guys would be looking at Hjalmarsson or Anisimov and make a trade with the Hawks? |

Funny because I called this yesturday.
Although not a done deal.
If I were Sakic I'd ask for Chabot or White and give Duchene - although Sens would need to shed salary for Karlsson coming |

If you trade Ceci for a forward, you can still find a second pairing dman via free agency later (if you lose Claesson)... Try for Shattenkirk, and if you miss out on him, look at Kulikov or Del Zotto or Franson etc. It wouldn't be the end of the world |

I don't think there is any chance Brassard is left unprotected - even if he should be, the then-new GM traded Zibby + for him... no way he lets him go for nuthin' |

Larsson fetched Hall last year....so not sure I agree. D seem to be valued more highly than wingers, no matter how average they are |

just bc one GM made a bad trade doesnt mean thats the market.
Seth Jones and Ryan Johanson also happened.
Drouin for Sergechev just happened.
There are more of these trades than Hall for Larsson
Ceci is a 3rd pairing Dman and Duchene is a Top 6, and on many teams a top line talent.
Lets not pretend Ceci can get you that |

I'd say he's 2nd pairing but yea, if Sens want to trade a Dman for Duchene or Landeskog it'll likely have to start with Chabot.
Regardless of what you think of Larsson, he averaged the most TOI on the Oilers last season (which imo makes him their #1 Dman) and stabilized the back-end. What I'm trying to say is that it takes a top-end Dman to get a top-end Fwd, and Ceci is not a top-end Dman. |

I think it's safe to say Ceci is a 2nd pairing guy. He seems sorely miscast as a shutdown guy in Ottawa. Being tasked with facing top competition while not get much consistent PP time certainly hasn't helped. |

Wrong about Larsson. He averaged a close 4th in overall ice time/game and 2nd in EV strength ice time/game while playing support role for Klefbom in his continued ascent to #1 D status. Very important player, but not our #1 with both Klefbom and Sekera's around. |

Landy would cost you Ceci,1st, white at least in some form and unless sens take 3/4 million Phaneuf has zero value! Imho and I've never came in to troll,so this isn't one either! but good luck with the expansion draft! |

Not a chance they get anywhere near that for Landeskog, I think if they end up trading him, Avs fans will be underwhelmed with the return. If he was still on ELC or a short bridge then maybe, but at his cap hit and recent production, they'd get something like a first and a decent prospect or roster player, not a huge windfall like above. |

Landeskog had 30 ish pts last year, in 72 games, and makes almost 6 mil........I don't think his value is what you think it is |
